Service Details

Scott Douglas Bailey, 66, passed away peacefully in his home on December 21, 2023.

Scott was born on October 27, 1957, to parents Jack and Leona Bailey. He graduated in 1976 from Bondurant Farrar High School where he wrestled and proudly placed 6th in state. He married Patricia Morrill on May 15, 1982 and together they raised four children.

Scott was a man of many passions. On Sunday mornings, you would find him faithfully in the back pew of the Santiago Church sitting by his uncle Cliff (but making sure it wasn’t too close), and in the afternoons, cheering on (and sometimes cursing) the Green Bay Packers. He loved mowing, gardening, golfing, hunting, fishing at the river and sitting on his deck having a cocktail (or two) but his greatest joy was spending time with his family and camping at the levee.

Scott is survived by his mother Leona; wife Patricia; and children Chad (Amber), Staci (Tony), Ryan (Renee), and Lesley (Andy); thirteen grandchildren: Paige, Ethan (Brooke), Haley, Hanna (Jamie), Hunter, Jaidan, Autumn, Braydon, Talan, Dylan, Corbin, Paityn, and Logan; four great grandchildren: Huxley, Harlow, Amari, and Zaire; siblings Chris (Judy), Brad (Nancy), Kathy (John), Becky (Mark) and Blaine.

Scott was preceded in death by his father Jack, brother David; and sister-in-law, Debbie (Blaine).

Scott will be remembered for his infectious smile, his love for life and his love for the Packers. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

Visitation will be held at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW, Altoona, on Friday, December 29, 2023 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Santiago Church, 8190 NE 109th St., Mitchellville, on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. Scott will be laid to rest in the Franklin Township Cemetery.

In lieu of dress clothes, the family will be wearing their Green Bay Packers gear to show their support for Scott’s beloved team. As Scott would always say, Go Pack Go!
Memorial contributions may be made to the family in loving memory of Scott.
