Sandra Lea Webb
February 25, 1948 — October 06, 2024
Sandra Lea (Clapsaddle) Webb, age 76, passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2024.
Sandra “Sandy” was born February 25, 1948. She attended All Saints Catholic School and then North High School in Des Moines, Iowa where she was involved in numerous Polar Bear clubs and activities. Most notably, she was a majorette and a member of the North High Rope Jumpers. Sandy also took various dance classes throughout her entire life – tap, ballet, jazz, toe, baton, private tap, and private baton – just to name a few.
After high school, Sandy was a dental assistant before marrying Bruce Webb. The couple had two children, Melinda Webb Todd (Matt) and James Webb (Kristi) and Sandy became a homemaker and stay at home mom for the majority of her life. Sandy was also an avid bowler for many years. She bowled in various leagues with a high average and even achieved that perfect 300-game. She was known for her smooth, balletic form and release, which clearly helped her consistently achieve those high scores. Later in life, Sandy went to work at Broadlawns Medical Center, where she worked in the environmental services department for over 13 years. She ultimately retired from Broadlawns in 2010.
Sandy’s greatest joys in her life were her family and friends. And when her children and their spouses blessed her with five grandchildren, she was complete. Beau, Easton, Elli, Emma, and Camden remember Grammy as funny, loving, and full of stories. And I’m sure her friends remember her bragging up her five favorite people any chance she could. Grammy was, and will always be, their biggest fan.
Sandy loved to cook, craft, and was an enthusiastic sports fan. She enjoyed watching football and basketball, especially the Cyclones, Hawkeyes, and most recently, the Indiana Fever.
Besides her two children, their spouses, and her five grandchildren, Sandy is survived by her youngest sister and brother-in-law, Patti Gamble (Jerry), many loving nieces and nephews, and a very close circle of life-long friends.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Agnes and Orvis Clapsaddle, and her older sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Bob Johnson.
We were blessed to have called Sandy our mom, sister, grammy, aunt, and friend.
“All our love” to you, Sandy.
Services for Sandy will be held on October 11, 2024, at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway, in West Des Moines with visitation from 1:00-3:00 pm, followed by a short service at 3:00 pm.
