Sally Ann Dudycha

Sally Ann Marie Dudycha, 90, passed away December 2, 2024 at Arbor Springs in West Des Moines.
Sally Ann was born October 23, 1934 in Mankato, Minnesota to Alvin and Pansie (Holbrook) Schenk. In 1940, the family moved to a farm northwest of Winnebago, Minnesota. She attended country school until the 8th grade when she was transferred to a public school in town. Sally graduated from Winnebago High School in 1952. She attended Mankato Commercial College. In 1953, she went to work for American State Bank in Mankato.
Sally married Darrell Dudycha on September 17, 1955. The couple moved to Sioux City, Iowa where Darrell attended Sioux City Barber College and Sally worked for First National Bank. After Darrell graduated, they moved to Fort Dodge, Iowa where they made their home and raised their family. Sally went to work for Quaker Oats until April of 1958, when the couple started a family. They were blessed with four children, David born in 1958, Douglas born in 1959, Debra born in 1962 and Dean born in 1964. Sally returned to work in 1966 for Land O’ Lakes where she worked until her retirement on January 1, 1996.
Sally was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and she loved spending time with her family. After retirement, she and Darrell took up square dancing. Sally loved roses and enjoyed tending to her beautiful rose garden. She was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church now known as Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
Sally is survived by her loving children, David (Anne) Dudycha, Douglas (Cyndi) Dudycha, Debra Ann (Mike) Parker and Dean (Jane) Dudycha; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, John Gardner, Henry Schenk and Raymond Schenk; sisters, Marion Gardner and Helen Getskow; and her husband of 56 years, Darrell Dudycha.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 13, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5711 SW 9th Street in Des Moines. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the funeral mass at the church. Sally will be laid to rest with her beloved husband Darrell at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa at 12:30 p.m.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to 3801 Grand and Arbor Springs for the sense of community and loving care they provided to Sally after moving to Des Moines.
