Sayvon Andre Propps, age 30, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2024.

Sayvon was born February 13, 1994, in Des Moines, Iowa to Nicholas C. Young and Denise Propps.

Left to mourn him are his mother, Denise Pearson (Lee Pearson); step-father, Sean Lovelady; bonus dad, Frank Propps; his children, Jah’Mauri Ryan and Kalihari Cooks; his siblings, Tanielle Martin, Shanice Propps, Laneisha Propps, Jada Martin, Karmen Young, Sterling Young, Ashley Young, Jordan Young, Kierra Horton, and Jacy Propps; significant other, Olivia Hawn (and Dante/Za’Riyah); many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Sayvon loved making people laugh. He enjoyed making music and rapping. In his free time, he liked to fish. Sayvon was a nurturer, protector, and provider. He made sure his friends had a place to go on Thanksgiving (mostly Mom’s house, LOL). Above all, he loved time with his children and his family.

Sayvon lived life to the fullest. He was a jokester always; he never took things seriously. He loved saying things for shock value. If you know, you know. He loved to harass his siblings just to see their reaction. If you were able to get through his tough exterior, you were filled with so much joy and love in return. He touched so many lives. He had bonds with so many people - bonds only he understood. Through the years, he had created so many memories with us, that we can only hold dear. He wanted to help any and everybody. He didn’t like for anyone to go without. Sayvon would say, “Mom, those streets don’t love us. We gotta do something different! We need some family businesses.” Sayvon was about his money. If it doesn’t make money, it doesn’t make sense.

Through everything, he loved his family so much. Not a day went by that he didn’t reach out to one of us and not one conversation ever ended without Sayvon saying “I love you” and giving you a hug goodbye.

And we won’t say goodbye, but until we meet again.

Sayvon was preceded in death by his grandparents, Barbara Taylor, Hubert Taylor, and Ira Jean Tidwell; his biological father, Nicholas C. Young; aunt, Taina Martin; and nephew, Alston Edwards.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 25, 2024, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2024, at Corinthian Baptist Church, 814 School Street, Des Moines. Repass following the service will be held at the Franklin Center (formerly Franklin Junior High), 4801 Franklin Avenue, Des Moines.
