Steve Kuefner
March 29, 1954 — April 13, 2024
Steven Craig Kuefner, 70, of Pleasant Hill, Iowa passed away Saturday, April 13, 2024.
Steve was born March 29, 1954, in Des Moines, Iowa to Arthur and Ruby (Scrivner) Kuefner. He graduated from East High School in 1972. After graduation, Steve worked for the Parks and Recreation Department. He retired as a Supervisor with the City of Des Moines, Glendale and Woodland Cemeteries. He then went to work at McCall Monument.
Steve married the love of his life, Pam on September 20, 1975. Steve and Pam were avid golfers and enjoyed traveling the world together along with friends and family. His family was everything. He was a story teller and would love to just talk with others. He enjoyed going out and all the staff loved him. He was a great tipper!
Those left to cherish his memory include his son Travis (Francie) Kuefner, grandchildren Caleb Kuefner, Cody Kuefner, Ashley (Colton) Rowley and Cody (Nikki Metz) Brown, great-grandchildren Caelynn, Carson and Cayden, sister-in-law Dee Dee Hammock, brother-in-law Jeff Klootwyk, nieces and nephews Kathy, Jordon, Deb and Mark, best friends Charles and Patty Crawford, cousins, and other loving family members.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of 47 years Pam, siblings Sharon and Shirley and his parents.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 22, 2024 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines, with a luncheon to follow. Private family burial will take place at Glendale Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family.

We spent a lot of years together in the Glendale office good times and not so good. But will always be remembered with your knowledge and helpful personality within the cemeteries. You are missed.
