Sherry Lee Bodden

Sherry Lee Bodden, 79, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at Altoona Nursing and Rehab in Altoona, Iowa.
Sherry was born August 28, 1944, in Carroll, Iowa, to Harley V. and Esther M. (Johnson) Wood. She was raised on a farm with her younger brother, Carroll and later moved to the Des Moines area in the 1960s. Sherry was a hard worker and had a variety of occupations throughout her life. She worked as a waitress when she was young and for many years she owned and rented out several properties in the city, as well as becoming a long distance truck driver later in life. Most recently she worked for Easter Seals assisting people with special needs.
Sherry had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed life. She enjoyed home improvement projects and reading in her spare time. Sherry was a caring and generous person and left an impression on everyone she met.
Sherry had three children, Kimberly Jacobs, Clark Campos, and Braedi Schaefer, four grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Clark, her parents, and a granddaughter, Ashly Ann Johnson Carpenter.
Services will be held at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, Des Moines, Iowa on Monday, April 22, 2024. Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., with funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Elm Grove Cemetery following the funeral.

Miss Sherry was the best stuff in the house she helped me a lot she made sure I got to my appointment and make sure I have nice clothes and she took me shopping a lot for clothes she helped picked out some of my clothes she did a lot for me she's made she made sure I got to my events on time and she was on time to work and she was on time all the time which I was happy about she taught me how to make beef stroganoff and tuna noodle casserole I'm glad I was part of her life

Sherry was a very nice person 2 have ment she will be greatly missed my support and prayers for the family during this time. She was a very nice lady 2 talk 2 and would help 2 make sure she brought my girlfriend Meghan over 2 visit and 2 events like special olympics practices.
