Service Details

Suzette Marie Artwein, beloved mother, wife, grandmother and sister was born on September 23, 1950, in Appleton, Wisconsin, to Norman and Caroline (Still) Stammer. She peacefully passed away at home on Thursday, January 2, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and faith that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew her.

A resident of Des Moines since 1967, Sue dedicated her life to her family, cherishing every moment spent with her children and grandchildren. Her home was a sanctuary filled with warmth, laughter, and the aroma of fresh coffee brewing. Sue had a special way of welcoming everyone with open arms; to her, strangers were simply friends she had yet to meet. Her kindness and generosity made all who entered her home feel like family.

Sue's unwavering faith in God was the cornerstone of her life. She was a beacon of strength to her loved ones, offering support and encouragement through both joyful and challenging times. Her spirit was a guiding light, and her compassion touched everyone she encountered.

As we celebrate her life, we are reminded of the scripture that resonated deeply with her: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11). This verse reflects Sue’s enduring hope and trust in God's divine plan.

Sue is survived by her loving husband, Stephen Artwein; children, Melissa (David) Bentz, Scott (Hannah) Artwein, Todd (Ruby) Jenderseck, Mark (Amy) Artwein, Jeremy (Mikayla Woods) Collins, and Kala Collins; cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Doreen (Brad) Puchta; and a community of friends and family who will miss her dearly. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Caroline (Bob) Witter and Norman Stammer; son, Michael Artwein; and brother, Rick (Kathy) Stammer.
