Ruth Fischer

Ruth Elizabeth Fischer, 95, passed away on February 20, 2024.

She was born February 26, 1928 in Adel, Iowa to her parents, George and Marie Greif. Ruth was secretary for Ferrell Gas for many years. She loved fishing, yearly trips to Minnesota, and watching women’s college basketball. Ruth also enjoyed traveling and visited every state capitol building in the United States. She cared deeply for her family and enjoyed cooking meals for them. Ruth also enjoyed her last few years at The Bridges at Ankeny. She will be deeply missed by her friends and family.

Ruth is survived by her sons, Danny (Georgiann) Fischer and Brian (Patricia) Fischer; grandchildren, Susan (Tony) Hill, Andy Fischer, and Amanda (Marshall) Ramsey; and great grandchildren, Michaela Fischer, Kara Ramsey, Troy Ramsey, and Addy Hill.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard “Bud” Fischer; her parents, George and Marie Greif; sisters, Ella Whiteaker and Esther Young; and brothers, Henry Greif, Martin Greif, William Greif, and Marvin Greif.

Family will greet friends from 11:00 to 12:00 p.m. on Monday, February 26, 2024 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 N.W. 60th Avenue in Des Moines. Funeral service will begin at 12:00 p.m. also at the funeral home with burial to occur immediately follow at Sunny Hill Cemetery, SE 6th Avenue in Grimes.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Beacon or Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Iowa in loving memory of Ruth Fischer.
