Roger Bacon

Roger Lyle Bacon, 77, passed away November 7, 2023 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center after a short illness.

He was born October 26, 1946 in Iowa City, Iowa to his parents, Joseph and Wilma Bacon. He worked for Star Equipment and retired after 20 years. Roger enjoyed tinkering in his garage and growing tomatoes in his garden. He traveled all over the country to watch his grandson play hockey. Roger and his wife Barb also attended Grace Church.

Roger is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara Bacon; daughter, Tammy (Curtis) Shepherd; grandchildren, Hunter Shepherd, Cody (Jess Romero) Shepherd, and Colton Shepherd; great granddaughter, Taya Shepherd; siblings, Denny (Sheryl) Bacon, Gary Bacon, Ruby Aldrich, Tom (Katie) Bacon, Larry (Sue Mozingo) Bacon, and Jim (Deb) Bacon; sister-in-law, Barbara Bacon and Sharon Bacon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Wilma; siblings, Richard Bacon, Dwayne Bacon, Loren Bacon, Jolene Bucklew; sisters-in-law, Judy Bacon and ZoeAnn Bacon; and brother-in-law, Wayne Aldrich.

Service will be held Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Grace Church, 4200 E 25th Street Des Moines, Iowa. Family will greet friends from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with funeral beginning at 11:00 a.m.
