Robert Gustaveson

Robert Gustaveson, 81, passed away Monday, November 18, 2024 at Spurgeon Manor in Dallas Center, Iowa.

Gus was born November 1, 1943 to Everett and Margurite Gustaveson in Des Moines, Iowa.

Gus was a true “East Sider”. He graduated from East High School in 1962 and following in the footsteps of his father, joined the Des Moines Fire Department in 1969. When Gus fell ill, he retired in 1990 after serving 21 years with the department.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, attending the Iowa State Fair every year, and socializing with his family and friends.

He is survived by his daughter, Carrie (Kent) Gustaveson of Waukee, IA; son, Roger Gustaveson, Dexter, IA; grandchildren, Justin, Courtney, Tyler, and Ali; and great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Holden, and Banks.

Gus was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Kurtis Gustaveson, sister, Joy Skinner, and grandparents, Dinty and Jennie Moore (who he affectionately called Pa and Gram).

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 25, 2024 at Resthaven Cemetery, 801 19th Street in West Des Moines, IA.
