Robert “Bob” Galde, 89, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, November 3, 2023.

Bob was born June 19, 1934, at home on the farm in rural Aneta, North Dakota, to Osborne and Doris (Prindle) Galde. He attended school in nearby Kloten. After graduating, Bob started his own company, Galde Construction. He later went to work for International Harvester as a mechanic for several years. He then worked on the missile sites for Hallet Materials and in 1965, was transferred to Des Moines, Iowa. Bob started working for Crown Redi-Mix in 1966 and he retired in 1991.

In addition to being an incredible mechanic and welder, Bob could fix any and everything. He was always working on home improvement projects and inventing tools to make the jobs he was working on easier. He enjoyed building race cars, especially welding the roll cages and over the years he built many Enduro cars. He was an avid animal lover and would care for any strays and make them part of the family. He also loved to entertain, tell jokes and was a great storyteller. Bob built a bar in his basement and named it the Tune Up Tap – a place where jokes were bad and drinks were free. He also added a deck above the garage which was known as the Upper Deck Lounge. Numerous gatherings with friends and family were held at their home.

Bob was a member of South Gate Masonic Lodge #657, Za-Ga-Zig Shriners and the Fraternal Order of Eagles #109.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Glendora; children, Bryan (Lynn) Galde, Shelly (Chris) Orwick and Cindy (Todd) Hick. Grandchildren, Justin (Jess) Overturf, Star (Tyler) Umbdenstock, Sasha, Sara and Skylar Galde, Keenan and EJ (Taylor) Newell and Tristan and Briley Hick. Great-grandchildren, Trinity, Jaden, Hunter, Noah, William, Eli and Cooper. Siblings, Marlin, Darrell (Sylvia), Lloyd (Judy) and Phyllis Galde; his cat Berry, and a host of extended family and great friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Tina Galde.
