Richard "Rick" Wood

Richard “Rick” Earl Wood Jr., 70, passed away January 10, 2025 at Taylor Hospice House.

He was born December 11, 1954 in Des Moines, Iowa to his parents, Richard Wood Sr. and Dorothy (Glenn) Wood. Richard worked for Casey’s for 25 years driving and in the warehouse. He also worked as a driver for Sysco for 18 years. Rick was a member of Central Bible Church. He enjoyed woodworking and tinkering in his garage. Rick also enjoyed helping others and was a great friend. He will be deeply missed by those who loved him.

Rick is survived by his wife, Deborah Wood; children, Christopher (Lamisha) Wood, Lorie (AJ) Blake, and Jennifer (Anthony) Flores; step-children, Adam (Janie) Dobbins and Brice (Cristyl) Jones; grandchildren, Kaylee, Tanner, Chloe, Simon, Jaxson, Boden, Kamden, Brody, Adrian, Lynnea, Rylee, and Abbie; sister, Aimee (Jim) Stier; brother, Matthew (Melita) Hammond; and a host of other loving family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Wood Sr. and Dorothy Wood; his first wife, Kathy Wood; and brother, Terry Wood.

Family will greet friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 20, 2025 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines. Funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with burial following at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery, 1 NE 60th Avenue in Des Moines.
