Richard "Dick" Myers

Richard “Dick” Myers, 79, peacefully passed away March 10, 2024 in West Des Moines, Iowa.

Dick was born November 30th, 1944 in Dubuque, Iowa. He graduated from Galena High School in 1962 and from there attended Bayless Business Institute. In addition to Galena, IL, he resided in Des Moines, IA and Hackensack, MN. He had a long career at Iowa Power and eventually owned his own real estate business, Myers Realty, for several years before retiring.

He was an avid sportsman and spent his life hunting, trapping and fishing and passed that love on to his grandkids. He always had the best “stories” about the one that got away that he would tell to anyone who would listen.

His family, friends and dogs were his life and he loved his kids and grandkids with everything he had in him. His friends were important and he looked forward to his coffee time with them.

Dick is survived by his daughters, Marne (Jeff) Buzzell and their children, Nathan and Nicholas Buzzell; Samantha (Scott) Kollasch and daughter, Ruby Kollasch; and Lindsey Rhoades and daughter, Ava Rhoades; brother, John (Patti) Myers; and sister, Maggie (Lew) Wachter.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of Dick’s life will be held later this year with close family and friends.
