Service Details

Richard “Rich” Grier, 83, passed away on March 21, 2025, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center.

Rich was born on December 30, 1941, to John Grier and Clara Olson-Grier. He attended Faith Baptist Bible College in Ankeny, Iowa, where he earned his bachelors degree. A man of deep faith, Rich dedicated his time to teaching Sunday School at Trinity Baptist Church. If he was not at church, you could find him watching sports, riding his four-wheeler, or cherishing time with his family. On June 15, 1968, Rich married the love of his life, Diane Grier. Together, they shared 56 wonderful years, building a life centered on love, faith, and family.

Rich proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for four years and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #738. He was a hardworking man who spent 26 years as a salesman with Terminix Pest Control, always bringing his sharp wit and good-natured humor to those around him.

He had a love for westerns, cheering on the Vikings, camping, and enjoying a good meal. Though he could be ornery and stubborn at times, he was deeply loved by all who knew him. His presence, humor, and unwavering love for his family will be dearly missed.

Richard is survived by his wife, Diane Grier; son, James Grier; daughter, Mary (Curt) Hines; grandchildren, Drew Grier, Jessica Grier, Josh (Katelyn) Grier, Jacob (Lauren) Hines, and Cheyenne (Devon) Saffeels; great-grandchildren, Justin, Alanna, Joey, Mason, Ella, and Boden; and a host of other family and great friends.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, John and Clara Grier.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Diane Grier.
