Rhonda Lee Newman

Rhonda Lee Newman, age 69, received her wings on Friday, October 11, 2024, surrounded by family.

Rhonda was born on November 8, 1954, in Des Moines, Iowa to Richard Lee and Jacqueline Marie Newman. Rhonda attended East High School in Des Moines, IA. Her previous jobs were as an administrative assistant at the Polk County Courthouse and being a Home Health aide.

She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and making everyone laugh. She was the life of the party and filled every room that she walked in with laughter. She also enjoyed holidays and gatherings with her family. Rhonda was number 3 of 7 siblings. Known as the Newman sisters.

Rhonda is survived by her son, David Jones; grandchildren, Danielle Hardin, Damon Marshal, DaLaurence Jones, Dominic Marshal, Damier Jones; six great-grandchildren; six sisters, Michelle Botts, Roxanna Roe (Gary Roe), Monica Newman, Ethel Newman (Keith Wilson), Damita Triplett (Douglas Triplett), Yolanda Brown (Kenneth Brown); and a host of nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Marie Newman; niece, Raasheema Scott; and grandchildren, Alexis Crandall and Davier Jones.

Anyone that has had the pleasure of knowing or being around Rhonda, knows that she was one of a kind and a natural comedian. Her personality and sense of humor were ones we will never forget. Rhonda was a loving and caring daughter, mother, grandmother, niece, sister, aunt, and friend. To know her was to love her. She will truly and deeply be missed.

The family of Rhonda Lee Newman would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for all of the prayers and condolences during this moment of grievance.

A Celebration of Life will be held on November 8, 2024, from 6-9 pm at Martin Luther King, Jr. Park Shelter, 1650 Garfield Ave., Des Moines, Iowa 50316.
