Rebecca (Becky) Koebernick

Rebecca Jean (Becky) Koebernick passed away on July 31, 2024 at the Kavanaugh House in Des Moines, Iowa.
Becky was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on October 24, 1943 to Robert E. and Shirley (Stansfield) Sanders. She grew up on a farm in Sarles, North Dakota. In 1955, the family moved to Jamestown, North Dakota. She graduated from Jamestown High School in 1961 and from the University of North Dakota in 1965 with a degree in accounting.
While in high school she met the love of her life, Burnette E. (Bernie) Koebernick and they were married on June 1, 1964.
Becky worked at raising her three children and when the youngest began school, she took a job with KVI Insurance which was later acquired by Marsh from which she retired. In 1993, she was named Employee of the Year by KVI.
Becky was an excellent cook and baker which she loved to do. She also supported all three children in their sporting activities and volunteered for those organizations. She was in a couple’s bridge group with her husband for the last 48 years and belonged to a ladies’ bridge group. She loved her monthly luncheons with her friend Carol and her KVI retirees. She loved to travel and was a voracious reader. She was a kind, patient and generous person who always put others before herself.
Surviving is her husband, Bernie Koebernick; her daughter, Anne Koebernick; sister, Kate (Jack) Earley; brothers, Mike (Susie) Sanders and Steve (Karen Grabau) Sanders; as well as her cousins, nieces and nephews.
Becky was preceded in death by her parents and her sons Bill and Bob.
A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 12, 2024 at Westkirk Presbyterian Church, 2700 Colby Woods Drive in Urbandale with visitation one hour prior. A luncheon will follow the service. Becky’s cremains will be placed in a columbarium in McDivitt Cemetery in Urbandale, Iowa.
