Raymond D. Duve Jr. passed away peacefully in the early morning, January
16, 2024, holding his daughter’s hand. He was 91 years old.

Ray was born an only child to Raymond and Florence (Schmich) Duve in
Omaha, Nebraska on October 20, 1932. There he attended Creighton Prep and
Creighton University and developed a love of baseball and hardwork and a quick
mind for numbers and finances. He met Marilyn Kriz at a LaSalle Club event that
he organized, rescuing her off the back of a horse. They were married September 3,
1960.

In 1969, after working as an accountant and CPA in Omaha for several
Years, he moved his growing family to West Des Moines, Iowa to take a job with
R.G. Dickinson and Co. where he worked as vice president and treasurer for the
rest of his career. A lifelong sports fan, he served as a coach for his children and as
an avid spectator at the games of his many grandchildren. He adored the sun, visits
to his lake home, Christmas, the stock market, gin and tonics, singing off key and
making his family laugh. As an only child, there was nothing he wanted more than
to have a big family. Loving and supporting his many offspring was the joy of his
life.

Ray is survived by his wife, Marilyn; his children, Theresa (Anibal)
Morales, Karen (Pete) Schmitz, Raymond Daniel (Sue) Duve III “ Dan”, Thomas
(Dena) Duve and Mary (Dan) MacAlpine; his grandchildren, Jeff (Roxolyana)
Schmitz, Ryan Schmitz, Justin (Melissa) Schmitz, Tula Morales, Camila Morales,
Cali (Kiel Reynolds) Duve, Lexi Duve, Raymond Daniel Duve IV “ DJ”, Ty
(Brandon) Brittain, Karsen Duve, Jake Duve, Danielle MacAlpine and Connor
MacAlpine; and great -grandson, Maverick Schmitz.

He was preceded in death by his parents and infant daughter, Katherine
Susan.

A visitation will be held from 4-6 pm Sunday, January 21, 2024 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines. The funeral service will be held Monday, January 22, from 10-11 am at Sacred Heart Church, 1627 Grand Avenue in West Des Moines with burial to follow at 2 pm at Calvary Cemetery in Omaha, Nebraska.

The family wishes to thank Hospice of the Midwest, Woodlands at Silvercrest, and Ramsey Village for their loving care of our father and grandfather.
