Ralph R. Johnson, Sr., 88, passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.
Ralph was born June 18, 1936 to Raymond H. and Mildred (Coellner) Johnson in Des Moines, Iowa.
He graduated from East High School and was career military. Ralph retired as a Master Sergeant. He enjoyed spending time solving the world’s problems with the “Donut Bunch”, racing, and participating in church activities. He was a member of the Isaac Walton League, Kiwanis, and Windsor Heights Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Johnson of Des Moines, IA; children, Lisa Schweitzer (Saskia), Brenda Larsen (Tom), and Ralph “Rich” R. Johnson, Jr, all of Des Moines, IA; grandchildren, Michael (Katie) Lucas, John (Chelsie) Lucas, Sarah (Joe) Cameron, Kristina (Sean) Larsen, Amanda Larsen, Christian (Pamela) Johnson, Kendall Holland; great-grandchildren, Braxton Cameron, Rae Lucas, Rowen Lucas, and Ella Cameron; and sisters, Barbara Brown and Karen Chapman.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents.
Private family inurnment at Iowa Veterans Cemetery will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Animal Rescue League and/or St. Jude Children’s Hospital in loving memory of Ralph.
