Ruby J. Oberender

Ruby JoAnn Oberender, age 85, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at Parkridge Nursing and Rehab in Pleasant Hill while under the care of Hospice of the Midwest.

Ruby was born September 26, 1938, in Des Moines, Iowa to John and Jennie Oberender. She was a lifelong resident of the Des Moines area. She was employed by Northwestern Bell for 49 years, retiring as a Manager.

Ruby had a strong Christian faith. She enjoyed attending Pella’s Annual Tulip Time Festival every year, and loved spending time with her nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her sister Jane E. Graves, sister Pennie Jean Bland, and many nieces and nephews.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents John Franklin Oberender and Jennie Isabel (Casteel) Oberender, brother John F. Oberender, Jr., and brother Donald James Stedman.

There will be no formal services held. Ruby will be laid to rest at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Des Moines.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Ruby.
