Robert Edward Cunningham

Robert “Bob” Edward Cunningham, 69, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at home.

Robert was born March 12, 1956, in Des Moines, Iowa to Dewitt and Maria (Csader) Cunningham, Jr. He graduated from Ruby Van Meter High School. For thirty years, Robert worked as a dishwasher at Bakers Square where he made many friendships. Following his employment at Bakers Square, Robert volunteered at the VA Hospital. Robert was very social and he loved to walk the neighborhood and talk to his neighbors. He loved his pet cats. Robert also enjoyed visiting casinos, sneaking cookies, and watching movies.

He is survived by his mother, Maria Cunningham; sisters, Mary Taylor and Cordy Coady; as well as many other loving family.

Robert was preceded in death by his father, Dewitt and his sister, Robin.

Services will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Oralabor Cemetery after the funeral.
