Rick L. Byrkett

Rick Byrkett, age 50, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2024.

Rick was born July 14, 1973, in Des Moines, Iowa. He was a Supervisor at Concrete Technology, Inc. Rick collected RC cars. He loved to run them until they were worn out, and then rebuild them and start again. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed camping at Saylorville, fishing, and mushroom hunting. He was very handy and could build or fix anything.

Rick married Gina on July 9, 1994, and they enjoyed 30 wonderful years together. Rick was generous and compassionate. He would help anyone in need. His greatest love was his family and he loved watching his sons grow up and play baseball. He was a proud grandpa of his infant grandson, Aaron. He had a heart of gold and could make anyone smile and laugh.

He is survived by his wife, Gina Byrkett; his son, Austin Tyler Byrkett (Denmark) and their son, Aaron Thomas Byrkett; his son, Mason Lane Byrkett (Brittany); mother, Cathy Eaton (Andy); aunt, Debbie Goepferich (Terry); and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Rick was preceded in death by his father, Rick Byrkett; grandmother, Marjorie Agan (Laurel); grandfather, David Byrkett (Lois); and cousin, Wayne Houghton.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at Eastside Church of the Nazarene, 1451 E 25th Street, Des Moines.
