Robert E. Bishop

Robert Emerson Bishop, 96, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines.
Bob was born December 31, 1927, in Des Moines, Iowa to Ralph and Agnes (Madden) Bishop. He was a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service for over 30 years. Bob was a 60-year member of Easton Place United Methodist Church. He was also a member of Highland Park American Legion Post 374. Bob was a talented singer and performed for many weddings and funerals. He enjoyed playing tennis and participated in the Senior Games.
He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Peggy Bishop; children, Nancy (Bill) Montague, David Bishop, and Kathy Fedson; grandchildren, Wyatt (Elena Petrova) Montague, Emma (JeMarcus) Moody, Lisa Bishop, Melissa Fedson, Michael Fedson, Sophie (Jay Bonetti) Bishop, and Caitlin (David Derong) Bishop; great-grandchildren, Danica Bishop and Alexander Bishop; sister-in-law, Teresa Bishop; and many other extended family and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his son, Doug Bishop; grandchildren, Amy Fedson and Matthew Bishop; parents, Ralph and Agnes Bishop; and his siblings, Jim Bishop and Virginia Stoermer.
Services will be held at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, December 8, 2024. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 9, 2024. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. For those unable to attend the funeral service in person, there will be a livestream available below the day of the service.

I remember Bob singing with my dad at Easton Place when we were kids. He had a beautiful voice and used to play Name that Tune with my brother and me, of course, I always won! We are praying for Peggy and all of your family during this difficult time. Love you, Laurie (Barr) Cronin.
