Service Details

Pamela Sorensen (74) of Altoona, IA passed away in December after a lengthy battle with kidney and heart issues.

Pam was known for her kind heart and willingness to help others in need. She received special recognition from SE Polk for serving as a varsity volleyball bench official for 25 years. If you voted in Altoona, you would likely recognize her as a mainstay election worker. Pam was a wonderful baker and cook and she loved sharing her creations with extended family and friends.

A lifelong member of the Pleasant Hill Church of Christ, Pam taught Sunday School for decades. She encouraged generations of young children to grow in love and faith with her patience, generosity, and an always-stocked bag of snacks.

Pam graduated from Southeast Polk High School in 1967 and then went on to attend Grand View College and the University of Northern Iowa. She worked for the Rasmussen Group in Des Moines for almost two decades before becoming a Realtor for First Realty/GMAC. Pam finished her career with Terrus Real Estate Group until retirement.

Pam is preceded in death by her parents, John and Dessie Sorensen, and her sister, Connie Price. Brothers John and Peter Sorensen, nieces Jennifer Albright, Erica Goltra and Jenna Sorensen all mourn her passing, as do countless family and friends. Pam is survived by her two brothers, 3 nieces, 5 grand-nieces and 1 grand-nephew.

A Celebration of Life Memorial service for Pam is being planned for this spring. Time and date will be published.
