Patricia E. Miller

Patricia Elizabeth Miller, age 81, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 9, 2024.

Patricia was born January 9, 1943, in Des Moines, Iowa to Lawrence and Lucille Nichols, who’ve preceded her in death.

She has been a resident of the Des Moines area her entire life. She married Thomas E. Miller, Sr. May 16, 1959, the man she loved like no other. She was a homemaker of six children born from this union. She worked for Look Magazine, held childcare and professional cleaning service positions throughout her work life. She enjoyed being a mother; it was important to have her family well groomed, disciplined, and that her children had a well-rounded childhood. She had a very close and loving relationship with her mother, and it was essential that her children have that same relationship with her mother as well. Her children growing up would argue, fuss, and fight on whose turn it was to stay at Grandma’s, often disappointed to tears when it was time to leave. Those who knew Pat, knew how significant it was in how she kept her home. If cleanliness is next to Godliness, that person was her. She trained her children accordingly; the level of detail to their chores and responsibilities was mandatory.

Pat was a devout member of Jehovah’s Witnesses since May 29, 1965, for almost 59 years. She shared in the Ministry work studying the bible with people, teaching them about Jehovah. Her strong faith brought her much joy and comfort.

Patricia is survived by her children, Michelle, Thomas (Kizzie), Renee (Clarence), Rose (Cliff), Mandre all of Des Moines and Cindy (Donnie) of Overland Park, KS. She had 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild, and loved them all dearly.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Miller, Sr., her parents, Lawrence and Lucille Nichols, and her brothers, George and Renfro Nichols.
