Phillip Tyron Jackson, 82, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2025, at Mercy Hospital surrounded by family.

Phillip was born January 17, 1943, to Russell and Lela Jackson. He grew up in the Des Moines area and was educated in the Des Moines Public Schools system.

He is survived by his son, Anthony (Carla) Jackson; niece, Deb Ubom; partner, Toni Jackson; stepsons, Rickey and Mickey Barber; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Phillip was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Lela Jackson; daughter, Collette Jackson; and his siblings, Melvin, Gwenith, Rene, Sherman, Russell Jr., Norma, and Doris.

A memorial service will be held at True Bible Baptist Church, 4101 Amherst Street, Des Moines, Iowa 50313 on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Phillip.
