Patricia Ann Gaston, age 85, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her own home surrounded by her family on Thursday, December 14, 2023.

Pat was born June 15, 1938, to Thurman and Hazel Mills in Des Moines, Iowa. She was loved by so many people. Pat had a kind heart and went above and beyond to help those she loved. She was very organized and loved planning parties. Her family was her world, and she loved her grandchildren above all else. Pat enjoyed camping with friends and going dancing with her husband of 45 years, Bob. She was very talented at gardening. During her working years, she owned the Yellow Rose Nightclub in Ottumwa.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Robert Gaston; daughter, Sue Poock (Craig) and their daughters, Delaney Clark (her son, Sean Clark) and Allison Poock; daughter, Barbara Henning and her children, Jessica Henning and Johnny Henning (Chelsey) (their daughter, Audrey Henning); daughter, Lisa Tschopp and her children, Joseph Tschopp (Katie) and Samantha Tschopp (Noah); daughter, Julie Gilliam and her daughter, Madison Gilliam; brother, Bobby Mills; and several nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Norman Heck, Louise Davis, Pauline Grafton, and Theresa Barraclough.

There will be a visitation and reception held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Pat.
