Nora Patricia Bogart
October 14, 1933 — January 30, 2026
Nora Patricia Horan Bogart aka Patti Bogart passed away peacefully on January 30, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and unforgettable stories. Patti was born in Burlington, Iowa, to John and Florence (English) Horan, from whom she inherited her grit and determination. At sixteen, she left home to pursue nursing at Knox College and later at the University of Illinois, proudly joining the “Fighting Illini” where she earned her Bachelors in Nursing. As a Registered Nurse, Patti worked for a neurosurgeon and later as an operating room nurse which provided her with a lifetime of astonishing stories, many of which were shared over family dinners and effectively convinced her children to choose careers far from medicine.
It was at the University of Illinois that Patti met the love of her life, Richard G. Bogart aka “Bogie”, on a blind date. After returning home to vote, Bogie misplaced her phone number and had to send a telegram in hopes of reconnecting. Thankfully, Patti forgave him. The rest, as they say, is history.
Patti and Bogie went on to share 62 wonderful years together, raising five beautiful children: Jason (Lori), Matthew (Stacy), Daniel (Nataliya), Betsy (Ken), and Michael (Doug). Their family grew to include seven cherished grandchildren—Emily (Jahzel), Grace (Dominic), Ben (Shelby), Katie, Valerie (Jacob), Jack, and David—and three beloved great grandchildren, Quincy, Apollo, and Ingrid. Her family is deeply grateful that Patti was able to spend Thanksgiving and Christmas surrounded by those whom she loved, and that she had the joy of meeting Apollo and Ingrid, whom she will surely tell Papa Bogie all about.
Patti was fiercely loving, endlessly loyal, and a steady source of comfort and strength to her extended family and countless friends. She was steadfast in her values and never missed an opportunity to be magnanimous. She had a gift for making everyone feel like they belonged, and she became a mother figure to all who knew her. Her life was defined by compassion, loyalty, resilience, and devotion. Patti leaves behind family and friends who adored her and a world made better by her presence. Her spirit will continue to guide, inspire, and embrace those she loved so deeply.
A memorial service for Patti will be held at the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration, 514 S Mountain Rd, Mesa, Arizona on March 22, 2026 at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Anthony Jolly Memorial Foundation at https://www.anthonyjollymemorialfoundation.org.
