Nancy Jane Meyer

Nancy Jane Meyer, 74, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, April 12, 2026 in Des Moines, Iowa after a short stay in Mercy One Hospital.

Nancy was born on May 1, 1951, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Frank and Helen (Dixson) Poggenpohl. A lifelong resident of the area, she graduated from East High School and later married Marvin Meyer. During her high school years, Nancy worked in the restaurant at the local department store, Yonkers, where she also developed an interest in learning to play the guitar. After graduation, she continued her career as a waitress in various cafés, following in the footsteps of her grandmother, who had spent her life in the same profession.

In 2013, Nancy suffered a stroke and, from that time on, resided at Azria Park Place in Des Moines. There, she enjoyed sharing meals, making friends, and participating in the many activities offered by the facility.

She is survived by her brother, Steve (Linda) Poggenpohl of Thornton, CO; nephews, Preston Poggenpohl of Colorado Springs, CO and Paul (Patty) Poggenpohl of Enid, OK; sister-in-law, Marlene Meyer; and two grand-nieces, Megan Poggenpohl of Oklahoma City, OK and Abigail Poggenpohl of Enid, OK .

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband in 2017.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 20, 2026 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, IA with visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines.
