Service Details

In loving memory of Darrell “Mike” Michael Holeman, who unexpectedly passed away on August 27, 2023, at the age of 70. He was born on August 1, 1953 and grew up on a small farm in King City, Missouri. Mike's legacy is one of love, unwavering dedication, and cherished moments.

Preceded in death by his father Darrell Loren Holeman, mother Shirley Ann McClain Holeman, and brother Brian Keith Holeman, Mike leaves behind a profound impact on those he loved and cared for. He is survived by his devoted wife, Luann Watson Holeman, with whom he shared 46 years of marriage, brother Hilbert (Sue) Holeman, daughters Heidi (Kevin) Tow and Hannah (Eric) Vetsch, and his son Hunter (Jennifer) Holeman. Mike's love extended to his seven adored grandchildren, each holding a special place in his heart.

Mike's professional journey was marked by his dedication to Mr. B’s Clothing, where he worked for 30 years. To Mike, his colleagues and clients were more than just a part of his career; they were an extension of his family. His genuine care and compassion left an indelible mark on everyone he encountered.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Mike was a pillar of strength and support for his family. His Christian faith was an important source of strength, hope, and comfort for him, and a testimony to those around him. Through life's challenges, he showed resilience, grace, and a sense of humor that uplifted those around him. Mike's ability to find joy in the simplest moments made him a source of inspiration to all who knew him. These simple joys included watching the Kansas City Chiefs, a warm breakfast, and eating ice cream, but most of all, spending time with his beloved grandchildren.

A cherished son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Mike’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were touched by his warmth, kindness, and love.

A celebration of Mike's life will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at Valley Church in West Des Moines. The visitation will be held from 10 AM to 12 PM and the service at 12 PM, with a private burial to follow. The family kindly requests donations to Blank Children’s Hospital with the memo designating “Pediatric Therapy” in lieu of flowers, honoring Mike’s memory and his love for children with special needs, including two of his grandchildren. If using the link below, please be sure to select "Pediatric Therapy" from the "Donation Designation" dropdown menu.

Though he is no longer with us, Mike's legacy of love, dedication, and compassion will continue to shine brightly in our lives. Rest in peace, Mike, knowing that you are deeply loved and missed.
