Michael Hatchitt

Michael Patrick Hatchitt, age 55, passed away Friday, December 13, 2024.

Michael was born October 8, 1969, in Des Moines, Iowa to William and Barbara Hatchitt.

He loved working on cars, racing, and attending the Indy 500. Michael was an ASE certified mechanic, and most recently worked at NAPA Auto Parts. He enjoyed watching spaghetti western movies on TV.

He is survived by his significant other, Vicky Freel; daughter, Scarlett Voshell; mother, Barbara Hatchitt; brother, Ryan Hatchitt; aunts and uncles, Craig Burchfield, Dixie Burchfield, Carla Lucas, and Dennis Hatchitt; grandchildren, Brendan Freel, Kaylee Freel, Miranda Freel, and Oaklynn Voshell; stepson, Joshua Freel; as well as many cousins, extended family, and friends.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, William Hatchitt.

There will be a celebration of life from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 19, 2024, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Michael.
