Melinda Sue Henderson
July 21, 1960 — June 05, 2024
Melinda Sue Henderson, 63, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at Taylor House after a long illness she bravely fought to the very end. She was born July 21, 1960 in Des Moines where she resided her entire life. After graduating from East High School, she had an over 40-year career with The Des Moines Register and later Gannett corporate where she held numerous positions ultimately retiring from Lineup Systems where she worked as a Lead Deployment Specialist.
Mindy’s many job roles allowed her to forge meaningful connections with those she encountered throughout life’s journey. Self-taught she had an incredible talent for technology and computers. She was a life-long learner and took new technology in stride. Some of Mindy’s greatest joys came from spending snuggle time with her beloved dog Paisley and adventurously trying out new recipes and making them her own. Her wit, humor, and candor are treasured by those fortunate enough to have known her.
She loved her family, especially her Daddy Larry Dale, who was a constant and unwavering supporter, cheerleader, and rock throughout her life. She threw herself into every task wholeheartedly no matter how big or difficult and was always available to support those who needed her.
Mindy is survived by her beloved Daddy, Larry of Des Moines; aunt Kathryn Hart of Coralville, cousin Alice (John) Swenka also of Coralville, and their son Lane (Katie) and daughter Stella Sue of Seattle. She was preceded in death by her beloved Mama, Barbara.
Visitation will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 7, 2024, at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, IA followed by funeral services at 12:00 p.m. and burial at Glendale Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to UnityPoint Hospice/Taylor House Hospice.

We knew the Henderson's years ago. My Dad and Larry worked together for many, many years at Super Value Warehouse. Dad mentioned Mindy Sue a lot, because her Daddy talked about her often. Larry, I am so sorry for the loss of Mindy Sue. My condolences!
