Maureen Ann Tremain

Maureen Ann Tremain, 71, passed away on February 21, 2025, in Des Moines after a long battle with cancer.
Maureen was born on December 9, 1953, in Cleveland, Ohio. She was the daughter of Charleen Grace (Shoemaker) and Richard Allyn Miller, Sr.
Maureen Ann Miller was raised in Mentor, Ohio, and was a 1972 graduate of Mentor High School. In 1983, she met a Navy sailor, Richard “Dick” Tremain, during his destroyer’s visit in downtown Cleveland. They became engaged and married the following year. She moved to Winona, Minnesota, in 1985 with her husband Dick and in 1986, the Navy stationed Dick in Des Moines, Iowa, as an officer recruiter.
In 1993, Maureen completed a double bachelor’s degree in business and marketing from Upper Iowa University, Des Moines campus. She also held an AA in business administration from Lakeland Community College, Ohio.
Maureen was an avid quilter that loved antiques, reading, gardening and lapidary. She also had a love for playing with her granddaughters, riding motorcycles with her husband and travel. Paris, France, was her favorite destination having visited 23 times. Florida was a close second.
Maureen had over 30 years of experience in printing and publishing and customer support including work at Dice.com and R. R. Donnelley.
She is survived by her husband Dick; daughter, Laureen Tremain of Des Moines; son, Richie Tremain, daughter-in-law, Amy Tremain, and granddaughters Charlotte and Hazel Tremain of Boone; brother, Rick (Danelle) Miller and sister, Kelly (Tim) Bennett of Madison, Ohio; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.
Maureen was preceded in death by her parents.
Family will be greeting friends on Sunday, March 2, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at 3:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home; 5400 SW 9th Street, Des Moines. Maureen will be laid to rest in the Elroy City Cemetery, Elroy, Wisconsin, on Saturday, March 8 at 2:00 p.m.
