Mary Elizabeth Walburn

Mary Elizabeth Walburn passed away December 24, 2023, at Pine Acres Rehabilitation & Care Center in West Des Moines at the age of 93.

Mary was born May 24, 1930, in Des Moines to Arthur and Irene (Young) Day. She resided in Lineville before moving to the Des Moines area. Mary married Carl Jones in 1958. She later was united in marriage to Royce Walburn. Mary retired from Polk County where she worked as a clerk for many years. She will be remembered as a sassy grandma that was very loved and will be dearly missed by many.

Mary is survived by her sons, Bill (Linda) Horton, Bruce (Deb) Horton, Dan Horton and Mark (Trena) Jones; step-son, Steve (Deb) Jones; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Carl Jones; and second husband, Royce Walburn.

A private burial will be held at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
