Service Details

Mary Katherine Ryan restored peace to the galaxy Sunday, December 10, 2023, at the ripe age of 69. Mary passed away at Parkridge Hospice Care in Pleasant Hill, Iowa, surrounded by the ones she loved and annoyed the most.

Mary was a fiercely independent, strong-willed, and determined woman. Born May 13, 1954, to Betty (Owens) and Kenneth Beck. She had 8 brothers and sisters. Born in Des Moines, Iowa, Mary attended Roosevelt High School.

Mary was a connoisseur of many interesting things; she worked painting homes and at Sears.com. She enjoyed garage selling, Harry Potter, spending time with her family, avid eating, and donating a good portion of her money to Meskwaki Bingo Casino.
She was a survivor of many health concerns; 3rd degree burns, diabetes, a series of mini strokes, heart attack, dementia, permanent AFIB, carpal tunnel, asthma, leukemia, along with being a 20-year cancer survivor. Most egregious of them all, she was a diehard Trump supporter, which ailed not only her and the rest the family, but the nation as a whole. It may be hard to believe that a stroke did her in.

Mary is survived by her second husband, Richard Ryan; children, Kenneth (Cindy) Ryan, Heather (Brandon) Ryan, and Richard (Jennifer) Ryan; grandchild, Kara, Heaven, Cennedi, Jaydon, Ireland, Erin, Theo, and Ella; great granddaughter Serena; siblings, Brian (Bonnie) Beck, and Debbie (David) Rossi and her snaggletoothed and highly annoying Pomeranian, Lola.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Bonnie, Kenneth, Betty, James, Candy, and John; and several dogs.

A Celebration of Life for Mary will be held on December 17, 2023, at 1:00 PM, at 3209 Poplar Dr SW, Bondurant, Iowa. Friends, family, and those who were touched by Mary’s undying spirit are welcome to attend and share their memories of her.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the “Help Save Her House from Foreclosure” fund. These funds are being raised to preserve the home that Mary worked so hard to keep and to provide a tangible symbol of her determination and resilience alive.
