Service Details
Ms. Mary L. Joss, age 73, of Des Moines, passed away Friday evening March 14, 2025 at UnityPoint following a brief illness. She was born March 5, 1952 in Polk County, lowa to Allen Joss and Leda (Nizzi) Joss.
Mary enjoyed spending her free time watching the Dodger's baseball team on TV, playing golf, even golfing her first ever hole-in-one last fall, and her weekly card games with her friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents Allen S. and Leda Joss, and her brother A.J. Joss.
She is survived by her sister Marlene Thielke; nieces Shelley Kramer, Lisa Vonk (Steve); great niece Emily Kramer; and cousin Jim Hanawalt.
A Catholic graveside service will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, March 28, 2025 at Glendale Cemetery where Mary will be laid to rest with her parents, Allen and Leda Joss.
Mary had requested that in lieu of flowers that any memorial contributions be made to the Animal Rescue League of lowa.

My condolences to the family. I worked with Mary in home care back in the 90’s. Since the 90’s Mary and a few of us from the office have kept in touch. Mary always has these great smile and such a good sense of humor. I will very much miss her. May she rest in peace! Liz

My sincere sympathy to the family. I’ve known Mary since the mid 70s when we played softball together. And she was on our Thursday golf team the last 5 years. Mary was one of a kind and will truly miss her smile and unique humor. Not sure where I will get my short tees now…🥲 …R I P Mary Lou. 💔
