Mary Kathryn Bruno

Mary Katherine Bruno, 69, passed away March 21, 2026 at her home in Ankeny, Iowa.

Mary was born March 20, 1957 to John and Constance (Sweet) Stevens in Owatonna, Minnesota. She graduated from Urbandale High School, Class of 79 and later received an Associates Degree in Business from DMACC. Mary spent most of her life in the Des Moines area, where she enjoyed tending to her flower garden, making homemade jewelry, and creating a wide variety of crafts. She had a special fondness for collecting turtles. Above all, Mary cherished the time she spent with her family and friends.

She is survived by her mother, Constance Stevens; son, Dan (Amber) Bruno; grandson, Sammy Bruno; siblings, Cindy (Gary) Meilike, Barb (Scott) Gahr, Tammy (Ron) Schreier, Jackie (Scott) Smyth, Tom (Amy) Stevens, and Kim (Joe) Cox; aunt Carole Perron; several cousins; and a hosts of nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

Mary was preceded in death by her father, John C. Stevens, and her grandparents, Bernice Weber; and Clifford and Frances Stevens.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2026 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines with visitation from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. Burial at McDivitt Grove Cemetery in Urbandale.
