Marsha Lee Howard

Marsha Lee Howard, 86, went to be with her Lord on March 27, 2026.

Marsha was born on February 21, 1940, in Waterloo, Iowa to her parents Rev. Donald and Wilma Howard. Marsha, being a preacher’s kid, had a strong faith from the start. That faith shaped much of who she was.

She worked at Firestone for 27 years, retiring from there. She enjoyed going on many cruises, including those to the Caribbean Islands and Europe. Most of all, she enjoyed her time with family and friends. Her children and grandchildren were the highlight of her life.

Marsha is survived by her children, Kevin (Patty) Des Planques, Scott (Kim) Des Planques, Michael Des Planques, and Michelle Des Planques; grandchildren, Mark Des Planques, Elizabeth Des Planques, Caleb Des Planques, Keenan (Madi) Des Planques, Sierra Des Planques, great-grandchildren, Keegan and Mateo; her siblings, Donna Phillips and Melodee Howard; and many nieces and nephews.

Marsha is preceded in death by her parents, brother, David Howard, and sisters, Judy Howard and Jeannie Howard.

A memorial service will take place on Monday, April 13, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Hamiltons near Highland Memory Garden. A visitation will occur one hour prior starting at 10:00 AM at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital or the Animal Rescue League of Iowa in Des Moines.
