Marilyn F. Probst

Marilyn Frances Probst, 90, passed away Saturday, July 27, 2024 in Urbandale, Iowa.

Marilyn was born November 26, 1933 to Clarence and Earline (Schipper) Cowan in LeMars, Iowa. She was married to Donald Wayne Probst and from this union four children were born. She was retired from Plaza State Bank.

Marilyn enjoyed being around her family and friends. She was a very good cook…her potato salad and chocolate chip cookies were legendary! Marilyn followed sports of all kind, especially Iowa State and Iowa. She loved to go to casinos and travel to different areas of the country. She was very active in both St. Therese’s Catholic Church and the West Des Moines Elk’s activities.

Marilyn is survived by her children, Pamela (Randy) Kent, Mark (LeeAnn) Probst, Michael (Julie) Probst and Steven (Patti) Probst; grandchildren, Eric, Jason, Molly, Chrystal, Nicholas, Amy, Annie, Joie, Sarah, Benjamin, and Matthew; seven great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Charlene Cowan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Earline Cowan; husband Donald Probst; sister Jane Crowley; brother Jack Cowan; grandson Chad; and special friend Stewart Berry.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, 1230 Merle Hay Rd in Des Moines with visitation one hour prior. Private burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Theresa’s Catholic Church or WDM Elks Lodge #2752 in loving memory of Marilyn.
