Marilyn McCauley

Marilyn Jean McCauley, 96, passed away February 17, 2025 at the Bishop Drumm care facility in Johnston, Iowa.
She was born February 29, 1928 in rural Sheldahl, Iowa to her parents, Rudolph and Selma (Stenson) Anderson. Marilyn graduated from Slater High School in 1946 and married Norman McCauley. They had six children together and later divorced.
Marilyn lived in Slater most of her life before moving to the Des Moines area. She was a lifelong member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Slater where she was very active. Marilyn was also active in several community groups including Garden Club, Birthday Club, and Slater American Legion Auxiliary. She worked in Road Design at the Iowa Department of Transportation in Ames for 25 years before retiring in 1993. Marilyn’s love of family, especially spending time with her grandkids, was her greatest passion.
Marilyn is survived by her children, Dennis (Donna) McCauley, Steven (Kendra) McCauley, Sue (Craig) Martins, Andy (Wanda) McCauley, and Mark (Shelli) McCauley; daughter-in-law, Arlys McCauley, grandchildren, Julie Anderson, Michael (Kristin) McCauley, Sean (Jessa) McCauley, Tiffany Wittmen, Jes McCauley, Matt McCauley, Brandon (Danny Hill) McCauley, Aimee (James) Kluesner, and David (Christie) Tipton; and great-grandchildren, Arian Vinca, Adriana Vinca, Sam McCauley, Sydney McCauley, Max McCauley, Neila McCauley, Truitt McCauley, Larkin McCauley, Holden Kluesner, Lucy Jean Kluesner, and Nathan Tipton.
She was preceded in death by her son, Jerry McCauley; grandson, SPC4. Ryan McCauley; parents; and her brother, Stanley Anderson; all with whom she is now peacefully reunited.
Memorial visitation will be held Monday, February 24, 2025 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines. Family and friends are welcome to attend her burial the following day Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. Sheldahl Cemetery, NW 158th Street in Sheldahl, Iowa.
Memorial contributions can be made to St.Croix Hospice in honor of the great care they provided to Marilyn.

So sorry for your loss. My husband Rodney Halverson considered Marilyn a second Mom. He was excited when she started driving and thrilled when she got a job at the DOT. She was a special lady with that wonderful smile and caring heart. I know Rodney was there to welcome her home.
