Mike C. McCullough

Mike C. McCullough, 68, passed away peacefully Monday, June 17, 2024, in the comfort of his own home surrounded by family and friends.
Mike was born September 13, 1955, in Des Moines, Iowa.
He enjoyed raising his daughter, Amanda and other adopted children he raised on his own. Mike worked at Principal Financial Group in their Princor department for most of his career. He loved going to the auctions every Wednesday night. His favorite thing was out-bidding folks and bringing home his prize possessions including many clocks. He enjoyed going fishing with his family and friends.
Mike enjoyed watching his Hallmark Channel, Reba, My Lottery Dream Home, Grey’s Anatomy, NCIS, and especially the Golden Girls. He loved his four ladies!
He cherished the time he could spend with his family. Mike really enjoyed it when his daughter, Amanda and her husband, Jim came back from Colorado. He enjoyed time spent with the following friends: Vicky and Victor Prasasouk, Jim and Vonetta Spiers and family, Cody Carlson, and Betty Jo Townsend and family.
Mike was a huge animal lover, and he had a numerous number of pets.
He will always be remembered for his friendliness, great heart, and being there when people needed him the most.
Mike opened his heart and home up through a mutual friend to allow his caregiver, Tammy Hearn, Rachel, Dakota, Mikayla, Josh, Robin, and Les to care for him. He is loved by many family and friends.
Mike is survived by his wife, Jane McCullough; daughter, Amanda (Jim) Pierorazio; sister, Sheryl Ballalatak; and brother-in-law, Mark Weihs.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Ronald Murphy, Lonnie Murphy, Rick McCullough, and Raymond McCullough, Jr.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 27, 2024, also at Hamilton’s, and will be followed by burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Please join the family for a reception to be held at the Rumble Room, 1430 2nd Avenue, Des Moines, IA 50314 after the burial.

Mike, was a great man.
He was a man that gave his full heart to all,
To Mike and I we called each Lover-Lover, I sat with him during the nights and talked about my games.
You are missed but never will be forgotten.
