Mary Jane Turner

Mary Jane Turner, age 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 26, 2024, at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines.

Mary was born February 16, 1939, in Des Moines, Iowa to Joseph and Georgia (Thomas) Turner. She lived the first 56 years of her life with her parents. In 1995, Mary moved to Sherman Boulevard to share a home with three other housemates. She lived the next 29 years there. Mary enjoyed collecting dolls, pocket books, shopping at Target, and have Happy Meals at McDonald’s.

She is survived by her sister, Eleanor Hansen (Rich), sister-in-law, Erna Turner, four nephews, seven nieces, and a multitude of great-nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Georgia Turner, siblings, Jim (Allene), Tom, and Judy, and her housemates, Laura Jo and Troy.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, June 3, 2024, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Des Moines.
