Mitchell Hines

Mitchell Joseph Hines, age 84, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his own home on Sunday, October 29, 2023, while under the care of Hospice of the Midwest.

Mitchell was born April 29, 1939, in Des Moines, Iowa to John and Dorothy (Murphy) Hines. He proudly served in the United States Army.

He is survived by his twin brother, Michael Hines; daughter, Ellyn Poston (Sam); sons, Mitchell Hines II (Grace) and John Hines; granddaughter, Angel Mosby; great-granddaughter, Trista Templeton (Zack); stepchildren, Laurena Stanley (Larry), Ron Ollerich, Rob Kerian, and Michael Frazier; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial with military honors will take place at Laurel Hill Cemetery following the funeral.
