Mary Ilene Hendrickson, age 87, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 13, 2023, at Ramsey Village in Des Moines.
Ilene was born January 1, 1936, in Des Moines, Iowa. She was a bookkeeper during her working years for multiple employers.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time outside. Her family was her greatest love and she was proud to watch her children and grandchildren grow up.
She is survived by her children, Karla Davenport, Valerie (Mike) Judge, and Brian (Rita) Hendrickson; grandchildren, Patricia (Bob) Jay, Joshua (Emma Cooper) Davenport, Aaron (Amber) Davenport, Adam (Leah) Davenport, Ryan Judge, Matt (Jackie) Judge, Sara Judge, Logan (Tianna Gile) Hotek, and McKenna Hotek; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Kaelynn, Noah, Faith, Daniel, Emily, Jane, Oliver, Delta, and Erica; and many nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.
Ilene was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin “Gene” Hendrickson; a daughter, Cindy, in infancy; son-in-law, Johnny Davenport; her parents, David and Ione Lawrence; and her brothers, Bob, Gene, Dick, and Dave.
Services will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 3300 Easton Blvd, Des Moines. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Burial will take place at Glendale Cemetery after the service.

Aunt Ilene was a wonderful lady and the worlds greatest aunt. Always very interested in our lives and very supportive to not only our educations growing up, but also our kids as they grew. Its sad how we got shut off from her after uncle Gene died. Not of her making Im sure. We love you all.
