Lois Anne Johnson

Lois Anne Johnson, 72, died Friday, October 18, 2024, at Taylor House in Des Moines, Iowa. Graveside service and burial shall be held at Pine Hill Cemetery on Friday, October 25th at 1 pm.

Lois was born October 2nd, 1952, in Perry, Iowa, to Forest Melvin Lay and Gladys Claretta
Austin Lay. She attended Saydel High School, graduating from Kingsley-Pierson High School in 1970. She attended Grand Island Business School in Grand Island, Nebraska. Lois retired from Iowa Network Services. She also worked at Principal Financial Group for over 20 years. She was a talented pianist, accompanying her children and many of their peers in Solo Music Festivals over the years. She was an able seamstress, making everything from her own clothes to Halloween costumes and applying Boy Scout and Girl Scout badges to uniforms. Growing up, Lois was active in 4-H, cheerleading, and played clarinet. Supporting her daughter, Lois became a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts. She resided in Des Moines.

Lois is survived by her husband Bill Johnson, children Katie Johnson and Will Johnson; siblings David Lay of San Diego, California, Donna and Todd Peterson of Charlotte, North Carolina, Douglas and Jill Lay of Minneapolis, Minnesota; brothers-in-law Jim Johnson and Fred Johnson and Sherry Witt. She was preceded in death by her parents; her father- and mother-in-law William and Maryellen Johnson; and brother-in-law Paul Johnson
