Linda Sue Preston

Linda Sue Preston was born April 14, 1947, the daughter of Coy and Mildred McClellan, and passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 12, 2023, in Corydon, Iowa.

Linda was born and raised in Ottumwa, Iowa and moved to Altoona, Iowa in 1979, also living in Adel and Des Moines. She worked at Des Moines General Hospital, Erickson Corporation, Heartland Management, and Churches United Shelter. She also carried the names of Booth, Gaskill, and Innis throughout her life.

Linda achieved BA degrees in science, arts, and human services at DMACC and Grandview Colleges. She had many training certificates in many classes, CPR, first aid, and sign language. She was a residential counselor at Pebble, Shalom, Highland, and Crest group homes for the last 19 years of her career. She loved her clients.

Linda found her faith in a Presbyterian church at a very young age, which followed her throughout her life. All the love she knew was shared; she will be missed.

The family would like to thank Care Initiatives Hospice and Corydon Specialty Care for their compassionate care of Linda. In lieu of flowers, contributions would be appreciated to the Animal Rescue League, the Alzheimer’s Association, or any dementia research foundation.

Please join us at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines to celebrate Linda’s life from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, December 10, 2023. All are welcome. A brief burial will take place at Shaul Cemetery in Ottumwa, Iowa on Monday, December 11, 2023, at 1:00 p.m.
