Leslie Diane Miller (Conrey), 76, went to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ, on April 9, 2026. Leslie Diane Miller (Conrey), 76, went to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ, on April 9, 2026.
A fourth-generation Iowan, Leslie was born in Knoxville, Iowa and raised on the south side of Des Moines and lived for many years in the same house where her mother grew up-- a home rich with family history and cherished memories. After marriage, Leslie and Tom settled down on the west side of Des Moines, where their family grew with the addition of their two daughters, Shelley and Jenna. Faith, family, and friendship proved to be the cornerstones of the family, with Leslie embodying and enforcing these values.
A graduate of Lincoln High School, Leslie earned a nursing degree at Broadlawns Nursing School and later returned to Drake University to complete a sociology degree with an emphasis on crime and deviance. She devoted much of her professional calling to serving adolescents struggling with chemical dependency and played an integral role in starting an adolescent chemical dependency program at Broadlawns Medical Center in Des Moines. Leslie’s dedication to this cause reflected her deep compassion for others and a belief in the healing and redemption of second chances. Leslie’s life of service extended well beyond a career, as she welcomed her parents into her home in their later years - an enduring testament to her devotion to those she loved.
Leslie found joy in many things but she carried a special affinity for watching tennis matches, Premier League Soccer, and spent much of her time drawing strength from God’s word. Bible study groups were a meaningful part of her life, offering fellowship, learning, and spiritual grounding.
Leslie is survived by her beloved husband, Tom Miller; daughters, Shelley Shah (Vipul) and Jenna Atwood (Chris); granddaughters, Kavita Binnebose, Sonya DeCarlo, Payton, Riley, Reagan, and Maddie Atwood; great-grandchildren, Cameron and Jessie Binnebose and brother, Theron Conrey.
Leslie was preceded in death by her parents, Jeanne and Duane Conrey, Sr; and brother, Duane Conrey, Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 13, 2026 at Valley Church, 4343 Fuller Road in West Des Moines with visitation one hour prior. Private burial at Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa.
Leslie’s life was marked by faith, family, service to others, and a deep love for those around her. While deeply missed by those left behind, comfort is found in the knowledge that Leslie is more alive than ever in Paradise with Jesus.
