Leonard "Lonnie" Paul Verwers

Leonard Verwers was the sixth child born of Alda Verwers and LeBartes Verwers in Albia, Iowa on December 1, 1950 one of twin boys.

Lonnie was a committed family man who had a terrific green thumb and loved to grow and can food for his family and friends.

He loved God and witnessed His great love to people across this nation as he drove over the road from year to year.

Lonnie is survived by his wife, Kathy; sister, Kay Karlzen; son, Leonard Jr.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, LeBartes who died at birth; sisters, Martha Luitjens (Delbert) and Anna (Lester Earl Bough/David Colgrove); twin brother, William; first wife, Marsha; son, LeBartes; and nephew, Aaron.

Funeral services will be held at Gospel Assembly Church, 7135 Meredith Drive, Urbandale, Iowa on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation prior, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A burial will take place at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery in Des Moines at 12:15 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the Gospel Assembly Christian Academy in loving memory of Lonnie.
