Leokadia "Lorraine" Rokitnicki

Leokadia “Lorraine” Rokitnicki, 76, passed away September 17, 2023. She was born February 3, 1947, in Darnawa, Poland to Boleslaw and Wanda Bobolinski. Lorraine graduated from Mercy Medical College as an RN and spent her career working at Mercy Hospital in the coronary care unit and Bindery 1, Inc. She and her husband, Eric, were recently awarded the Immigration Spirit Award, a community honor.

In her free time, Lorraine enjoyed her grandchildren, animals, mowing and spending time outdoors. In her younger days, she loved to water ski and bicyle. Lorraine also enjoyed studying the universe and geology.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 57 years, Erazm “Eric” Rokitnicki; her daughters, Gigi (Janusz) Toporek, Renatta (Jason) Bolen; her son, Robert Rokitnicki; four grandchildren, Christopher Toporek, Elizabeth Toporek, Andrew Bolen and Brittney Bolen; her brother, Marian Bobolinski; sister, Leonarda “Lola” Darowski; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, Boleslaw and Wanda Bobolinski.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 22, 2023 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines with a Rosary and vigil service at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday, Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1230 Merle Hay Road in Des Moines followed by burial at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines, Iowa.
