Lei Ann Freed, 55, born February 16, 1971, in Des Moines, Iowa, passed away on March 17, 2026, after an extended illness.
She graduated from Lincoln High School with the Class of 1989. She was previously employed with ABC Child Care, CVS, Norwalk Schools, and Lutheran Social Services. Lei spent her free time with her family, especially with her granddaughter. You would often find them at the park, movies, or playing outside. Lei liked Harley Davidson apparel, clothing, bikes, collectables, and purses.
Above all, Lei cherished her family. She is survived by her daughter, Lena (Max) Hendricks; granddaughter, Layonna Boley; mother, Linda Gear; father, Terry (Donna) Freed; sisters, Lesa (Curt) Bambrook, Lynne Gillen, and Shelly Baker; brother, Terry (Maria) Freed II; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends, who will continue to carry her memory in their hearts.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 30, 2026 at Fort Des Moines Methodist Church; 6205 SW 9th Street, Des Moines. Lei will be laid to rest at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery at a later date.
Please join the family for reception in the Church’s Fellowship Hall immediately following the services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Lei.

She was always great to visit and laugh with. She will be remembered forever. I am so glad to have known her. I would have done anything for her. Definitely will be missed. Rest in peace.
