LeRoy Lee Swalve

LeRoy Lee Swalve 74, passed August 2, 2024. He was born January 14, 1950 to Ethel (Iverson) and Richard Swalve in Swea City, Iowa. He graduated from Graettinger High School. He spent most of his career as a custodian and retired from Calvin Community in 2012 and from his part-time job with the West Des Moines school district in 2017.
He had a long-time interest in cars and collected miniature Chevys and Corvettes. He was a dedicated member of Galilee Baptist Church where he served as Head Trustee, Deacon and Treasurer of Deacons. He also worked to maintain the church building and grounds.
LeRoy is survived by his wife, Paula; son, Michael (Nicole) Swalve; brothers, Lawrence Lee and Leonard; sister, Mary Lou Swalve; 7 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; 7 nephews and 2 nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Gloria Bloome.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. with visitation prior from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway, West Des Moines, Iowa. Burial will take place at a later date at Valley View Cemetery in Graettinger, Iowa.

My sincere condolences to LeRoy's family. LeRoy and I were next-door neighbors. He was a great friend and well liked by everyone he came in contact with. He will be missed by many.

LeRoy was one of the first friends I ever had. I will always cherish that. LeRoy was a wonderful man of great faith. Eternal rest grant unto LeRoy oh Lord, and let Your perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace.
